Position: Assistant Communications Coordinator Company: World Lottery Association Location: Basel, Switzerland Starting: ASAP The World Lottery Association (WLA) has a membership of 141 state-controlled lotteries from 76 countries and 5 continents as well as 40 associate members that supply lottery technology and services to the global lottery community. The WLA has its main business office in Basel, Switzerland (4 people) and representation in Montreal, Canada (3 people). We cover five business areas for our membership: • Communication (WLA magazine and website) • Convention organization (WLA Convention and Trade Show, biannually) • Education and training activities • Member administration services and statistics • Industry standards For the WLA office in Basel we are seeking an Assistant Communications Coordinator. Your primary duties will be in the field of communications, however we are a small team so you will be expected to take part in the work of all five business areas. Qualifications: • Degree in Communication/Journalism or other relevant University degree • Excellent command of the English language, both written and spoken; preferably a native English speaker • Knowledge of German or another language would be advantageous • Practical knowledge of Content Management System handling • Experienced with MS Office programs – Word, PowerPoint and Excel • Analytical skills – also with numbers • Practical knowledge of layout programs (InDesign, Illustrator) and prepress production • Knowledge of the lottery business would be a plus • Good sense of humor and the ability to work independently You will report to the WLA Communications Coordinator Your responsibilities: • Updating the WLA website with current and relevant lottery news • Assist with a website relaunch • Analyze lottery data and write reports • Write and proof-read articles for the WLA magazine and assist with its production • Handle external suppliers and contractors (bids, quality assurance and coordinating deadlines) • Maintain good relations with members and associate members • Prepare meeting minutes Interested candidates are requested to send a complete Curriculum Vitae (CV) quoting reference JV105, with photo, along with any relevant certificates by Thursday, January 14, 2010 to: Vacancy Closed
