Members of the European Parliament Petitions Committee have denounced the disproportionate and repressive enforcement measures imposed by the Greek authorities in relation to the Stanleybet customers and intermediaries illegally arrested in November 2008, urging the European Commission to speed up its investigation of the Greek law which prohibits betting operators legally established in other EU Member States from setting up their services in Greece.
