Buzz Bingo completes double club acquisition from Merkur

Buzz Bingo has completed the acquisition of two of the UK’s largest bingo clubs in Cricklewood and Northampton from Merkur.

In total, the two former Merkur sites welcomed 410,000 visitors in 2023 and, on average, paid out over £1 million in winnings each month.

The Cricklewood venue is the largest bingo site in the United Kingdom and currently holds the Guinness World Record for paying out the largest single bingo house prize of all time at £100,000.

Following completion of the acquisitions, Buzz Bingo is finalising the rebrand of the venues, with an opening party and ribbon-cutting ceremony planned for September 2024.

“There is a huge and growing number of people playing bingo for the first time, and through our fun and digitally enabled retail sites we are building a new fanbase of Buzz Bingo customers,” said Buzz Bingo CEO Dominic Mansour.

These acquisitions follow on from the opening of Buzz’s first boutique high street club in Borehamwood, which utilises the latest streaming technology to bring together the operator’s retail and online offerings.
