Washington DC’s Sports Wagering Amendment Act of 2024 was approved by councilmembers on Tuesday as a part of the fiscal year 2025 budget bill.
The amendment paves the way for an expanded sports betting market in Washington DC by introducing competition in the betting kiosk sector and creating a new class of license for online betting.
The FY25 budget bill containing the amendment now goes to Governor Muriel Bowser for approval.
