Danish gambling regulator sets out supplier licensing timeline

2nd July 2024 7:46 am GMT
Denmark

The Danish Gambling Authority will begin accepting licence applications from online games suppliers on 1 September.

The licensing window opens four months ahead of the start of new regulations which require games suppliers to be licensed in Denmark before they can provide games to licensed operators in the market.

As part of the licensing process, all games, platforms, business procedures and systems will have to be tested and inspected by an accredited testing company according to the Danish Gambling Authority's certification programme.

This certification programme is still in development and is expected to be released for public consultation in mid-July, with the programme coming into force on 1 January 2025.

Any games that are available in the Danish market under the current certification programme will remain approved until 1 July 2025, at which time it will be mandatory to use the new certification programme.

Guidance material on the new rules and new application forms for games suppliers are available on the Danish Gambling Authority’s website.
