KSA cracks down on 13 operators for payout breaches

14th August 2024 9:38 am GMT

Dutch gambling regulator Kansspelautoriteit (KSA) has warned nine online operators about implementing “unauthorised conditions” regarding customer payouts.

The nine operators have received letters from the KSA, and the regulator requires a written response from the recipients confirming that they have removed the unlawful conditions.

The regulator also confirmed that it suspects four other operators of applying similar conditions. If the regulator’s suspicions are correct, then half of the licensed Dutch market will be involved in the breach.

The four additional operators have also been contacted and will have to respond in writing to the Dutch gambling regulator.

This action came after the regulator received notice in March that some operators were in breach of the country's regulations, which state that players must be paid out immediately.

Following the flagging of this breach in regulations, the KSA reinformed operators of licensing requirements.

Operators should not impose certain conditions that would hamper payouts, such as a minimum payout amount, playthrough requirements, or charges for sanctioning payouts.

The regulator explained: “A provider may not impose structural conditions that prevent direct payment. Player credits must, therefore, be refunded without unnecessary delay.”
