GAMSTOP hits 500,000 registrations milestone

Gambling self-exclusion platform GAMSTOP has announced the milestone of 500,000 registrations since its launch in the United Kingdom in 2018.

More than 440,000 people are currently registered on the platform, with around one in two choosing to exclude themselves from gambling for the longest available term of five years.

The market research company IPSOS has recently surveyed over 4,650 users of the platform and the full results of the survey will be published later this month.

Initial data from the survey shows that 78 per cent of users felt the platform delivered the results they wanted, and three-quarters of those surveyed felt they had greater control over their gambling.

The half-a-million registration milestone comes ahead of GAMSTOP’s self-exclusion day on 12 September, which aims to raise awareness amongst football fans across the country.

Messaging will appear at English Football League stadiums on the weekend of 7 to 8 September, and digital messaging will be posted on partner clubs’ social media accounts.

“We have come a very long way since our launch in April 2018 and GAMSTOP is now widely recognised as an important tool to help vulnerable consumers take a break from their gambling,” said GAMSTOP chief executive Fiona Palmer.
