Caesars Entertainment to replace GambetDC betting kiosks

12th September 2024 9:47 am GMT

Caesars Entertainment has been cleared to roll out its self-service betting kiosks in Washington DC to replace the outgoing GambetDC betting kiosks.

Caesars is currently working on its rollout plan and will announce the launch date of the kiosks in the near future, with 53 kiosks set to deployed at sports betting retail locations licensed by the Office of Lottery and Gaming (OLG).

The new kiosks will also enable players to make cash deposits to their Caesars Sportsbook mobile accounts.

Washington DC councilmembers approved changes to the District's sports betting market in June following the underperformance of the exclusive contract held by Intralot to operate the GambetDC brand on behalf of the OLG.

GambetDC was the exclusive District-wide mobile betting provider before being replaced by Flutter Entertainment's FanDuel, with the retail kiosk contract now passing to Caesars.

Prior to selecting Caesars, the OLG contacted existing licensees about their participation in the retail kiosk program. These operators included FanDuel, Caesars, BetMGM, and DraftKings.

“We appreciate the Office of Lottery and Gaming for providing us the opportunity to further our connection with sports fans in our nation’s capital,” said Eric Hession, President of Caesars Digital.

“Our self-service betting kiosks are an excellent addition to our sports wagering options in D.C. Whether sports fans prefer a traditional ticket-in-hand wagering experience or want to simply deposit cash for their mobile app account, our kiosks enhance the premier sports betting experience we offer through the combination of options and convenience that supports dozens of small businesses locally.”

Eugene Vlasenko, interim executive director of OLG, commented: “D.C. residents and visitors will soon have access to best-in-class sports wagering kiosks at retail locations across the city.

“We are pleased to partner with Caesars, a key industry player and the leader in retail sport betting operations, which is demonstrating its commitment to the D.C. community.”

Shares in Caesars Entertainment Inc. (NASDAQ:CZR) closed 0.69 per cent higher at $36.35 per share in New York Wednesday.
